WHAT IS MAROUBRA NIPPERS?

Surf Lifesaving Junior Development, better known as ''Nippers'' is an activity based program to develop Junior Surf Lifesavers. At Maroubra we endeavour to teach children from the tender age of 5 through to 14 years about surf safety and awareness, basic first aid and lifesaving techniques. We also introduce children to the competitive side of surf lifesaving as a means of developing, improving and maintaining their surflifesaving skills and physical fitness.

Through Surf Lifesaving Junior Development, we foster resilience, self -reliance, community spirit, teamwork, initiative and a sense of camaraderie to strike up friendships to last a life time. Surf Lifesaving is a truly co-ed organistation with a principal focus on respect for one's self and each other.

Nippers is held at Maroubra SLSC on Sunday mornings during the spring and summer period, starting with a roll call at 08:45am sharp. We usually open for online registrations in early August and conduct preliminary aquatic evaluations for the younger children, and proficiency swims for the older ones in early September.

Our season usually begins on the first Sunday after the October Labour Day long weekend. Then it takes a break over the Christmas and New Year period, andresumes in late January, winding up with the State Championships in early March.

Our Season Calendar and Handbook, and the SLS NSW Pre-Season Pack are currently being updated, and we will post links to them here soon.
