Club Champ & club races info 2016

Dear Members

 The 16/17 Season has stared and the competition season will soon be in full swing.

 Weekly handicapped club races will start next week with a big roll up each week, this was extremely encouraging to see many new faces on the start line each Sunday.

 Club championships will be held over 3 rounds with the first round to be held on the 30th October 2016.

 There were a number of questions asked of me in regards to Club Championships from a number of members last year in regards to eligibility to compete  and gain points and also how perpetual trophies were awarded.

 I took these questions to this years newly elected Surf Sports committee and then to the board of Management and the below were passed and placed in By Laws.

 Eligibility;

  • If a Maroubra SLSC member has chosen to move their competition rights to another Surf Club they can compete but will be ineligible to gain points in all Club Championship rounds.
  • Maroubra SLSC members who have chosen to move their competition rights can still gain points in weekly Handicapped Club Races.
  • There will be a male and female Club Champion awarded in each age group

Perpetual Trophy Winners;

  • The highest point scorer Male or Female through the 3 club championship rounds in each age group will be awarded as the Perpetual trophy winner.

There will be a new Perpetual Trophy named the Peter Cuz Kirkwood trophy for the U17's male or female highest club champion point scorer.

The Director of Surf Sports award has been changed to The Dennis Heussner Award and will be decided by the Surf Sports Committee.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on the start line.
