Inclement Weather

Wet Weather Policy

Nippers will be run in wet weather.

However it will be cancelled in the event of thunder and lightning storms.

In all other conditions nippers will still be on.

About Nippers

Surf Lifesaving Junior Development, commonly known as "Nippers" is a fun activity-based program that aims to teach and train children from 5-14 years of age to become Junior, and eventually fully fledged Surf Lifesavers.

What happens on Sundays?

nippersThere are a few guidelines to follow to make your day safe and enjoyable:

  • Be punctual, Nippers rollcall is at 8:45am for a 9:00am sharp start.
  • Please provide your child with sun protection (block-out and zinc)
  • Nipper caps must be worn until children sign off at the conclusion of their activities.
  • No playing in the water when any activities or competition is on.
  • Children must be marked on with their Age Manager at the commencement, and marked off at the completion of nippers
  • No sand throwing.

Get Involved

Surf Lifesaving and it's Junior Development movement are entirely run by volunteers, and many hands make light work. Many parents get involved through Nippers and find it a life changing experience and never look back.

Maroubra Surf Lifesaving Club offers many educational courses to engage parents, guardians and other family members:

  • Age Managers Award
  • Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Surf Sports Officials accreditation
  • Surf Sports Coaching Accreditation
  • Surf Rescue Certificate
  • Surf Bronze Medallion
  • Advance Resuscitation Techniques Certificate
  • Spinal Injury Management Award
  • IRB Crew and Drivers Certificates
