Membership

Membership to the Maroubra Surf Lifesaving Club is open to everyone from the age of five. The club has a number of membership categories.  After completing the initial lifesaving training, the majority of members who are aged 13 and over commence as active patrolling members.

Members aged 13 and 14 are then trained in basic lifesaving techniques and receive the Surf
Lifesaving Certificate [SRC]. Members aged 15 then go on to be trained in the Bronze Medallion and are awarded a Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue). Both awards cover surf skills, resuscitation, rescue techniques and prepare members for participating in surf patrols. Members 13 years and under are part of our Nippers Program. Joining information for Nippers can be found within the Nippers section of this website.

Information Nights

Information nights for new members are conducted prior to the commencement of each Bronze Medallion and Surf Rescue Certificate [SRC] course. Once registered as a member you will be contacted with the details of the information night and the course. Course dates for this season are located on the Education Information Page.

Membership Benefits

The Club offers members many benefits including:

  • Patrol uniform
  • Access to all club facilities (some limitations < 15years)
  • Club functions
  • Club gymnasium
  • Free specialist lifesaving and First Aid training
  • Surf Sports training and coaching
  • Access to lockers, board lockers and surf craft storage faclities
  • Membership to the Maroubra Seal Sports and Community Club
  • Subsidised training and travel costs for competitors
  • Club newsletter
  • Rewards to patrolling members who obtain their 100% Patrol efficiency
    for the season
